The Specter is an inexpensive submachine gun that takes up its owner's primary weapon slot. It is equipped with a silencer that reduces the range of the weapon's sound profile. Compared to the Stinger, it is significantly more accurate, has significantly fewer kicks, has slightly more cover penetration, and has a larger magazine capacity (30 vs. 20). However, its slightly lower damage per shot and reduced rate of fire makes its overall power statistically lower.
Weapons are a useful power purchase if your team is on a tight budget, and is noticeably effective at close range, especially against unarmored targets. Its muffled gunshot sound can also come in handy for attacking enemies, as less attentive players may be oblivious to your shots. However, as players acquire rifles with higher damage, it loses its effectiveness later in the game, where its role is better served by the Phantom assault rifle, which, like the Specter, is suppressed and, in other words, can kill the enemy in one shot in head (assuming the target doesn't have enough armor points) and has a much longer effective range with better penetration ability.
